Welcome to SOS Children's Village of Chennai, Chatnath Homes, a charitable trust affiliated with the SOS Children’s Villages of India!

 

        Since 1979, the 5-acre village in Tambaram neighborhood, Chennai has provided over 300 orphan and destitute children with permanent homes in a healthy, stable, and loving, family environment. Like the other SOS Villages spread throughout the world, Chatnath Homes functions on four basic principles of a natural family; mother, brothers and sisters, house, and village. The community has 15 family homes where 9-10 children live together with their SOS “mother,” and grow up with the education, medical attention, and love that every child deserves....more

The  371 year old Madras celebrates its Day through Madras Week Celebrations. Madras Day focuses on the city, its history, its past and its present.

SOS Children’s Villages of India-Chatnath Homes in Tambaram celebrates ‘Madras Week’ during 15 th – 23 rd August 2010.  The following are the programs:

  • Exhibition on ‘Tambaram – past and present’ - open to all schools and public during 16 th to 23 rd August 2010 at Hermann Gmeiner Auditorium, SOS Children’s village, Tambaram
    .
  • Lecturers :
    1. On ‘Your Ellu-Thatha’s  Madras’   by Mr. Pradeep Chakravarthy
      (Infosys):  16 th August, 2010 at 2.30 p.m. at Hermann Gmeiner Auditorium, SOS Children’s village, Tambaram.
    2. On ‘Bruce Foote in the Pallavaram/Tambaram area  by
      Mrs. Satyabhama Badrinath, Superintending Archeologist, A.S.I.
      Chennai Circle : 23 rd  August, at 2.30 p.m. at Hermann Gmeiner Auditorium, SOS Children’s village, Tambaram.

  • Nature walk into Madras Christian College – a guided tour

  • Inter-school competitions: (10 schools in Tambaram participate)

      SOS Children’s village, Tambaram.
    2. Oratorical contest ‘growth of Tambaram - advantages and
      disadvantages’ – On 18 th August at 10. 00 a.m. at Hermann Gmeiner Auditorium, SOS Children’
    3. Drawing competitions on theme ‘Identify  trees in your school’
      during 17th to 20th August at their respective schools.
Childlren’s trip to Madampakkam ‘heritage temple’  on 22 nd August at 6.30. a.m.
